What we know!
The debut was one for the books – the Honda O SUV had a public unveiling, with the prototype first seen at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show. Production on the model will begin at the Honda EV hub in Ohio in 2026.
To make the street demonstration drive even more exciting, at the wheel was Formula 1 superstar Max Verstappen. He was joined by fellow stars Yuki Tsunoda from Red Bull and Isack Hadjar from Racing Bulls. The street demo event was held prior to the recent Japanese Grand Prix.
Together, Honda and Red Bull Racing in what has been a fruitful six-year partnership have achieved a whopping more than 63 F1 victories, four consecutive Drivers’ World Championships and two Constructors’ World Championships. In what is considered the pinnacle of motorsport, they excelled!
Dressed to impress in the Red Bull Event, the Honda O SUV wore a specially designed wrap featuring geometric lines and reflections of light. This was a visual symbol of the company’s new approach to EV development. That is “Thin, Light and Wise.”
The Honda O SUV showed its stuff alongside Red Bull Racing Honda F1 machines, including the “RB16B” and RB7.” Also joining in the street demo was the first race-winning Honda F1 car and the historic V12–powered Honda RA272.
More on the Prototype!
The first Honda O Series model to enter production based on the company’s newly developed dedicated EV architecture, the O SUV boasts a spacious cabin with superb visibility and flexibility. This perfectly makes clear the company’s direction to offer a new value for its future Honda O Series EVs as a “space” for people.
This model will also feature a vast array of next-gen technologies as a way of embodying the “Thin, Light and Wise” approach including the ability for ultra-personal optimization and digital user experience, made possible by the ASIMO OS, which is the original Honda operating system. It features a low vehicle height and brings forth electricity efficiency performance that defies established beliefs about EVs thanks to Honda original technologies. Making cars wiser through the advancement of intelligent technologies is another key aspect.
North American markets will have to wait for this introduction in 2026, followed by its release in global markets, including in Japan and Europe.
With more than 40 years of U.S. manufacturing, Honda’s track record is strong to say the least. The automaker produces nearly all its American-sold vehicles in North America across eight major facilities, and the Honda O Series is one of its many fine offerings. Redefining mobility and with the Thin, Light and Wise approach, there’s no going back! Forward thinking and unconventional in so many wonderful ways, including its bold yet simple design, this concept-about-to-turn production is well worth the wait!
