Families listen up! This just in – the 2024 Honda Passport holds a distinct title, having been named “Best 2-Row Midsize SUV for Families” by U.S. News and World Report, recognized for its safety, reliability, space, convenience and connectivity in their class. It’s no surprise that Honda is the “winningest” brand with 43 vehicle category awards, and this designation is just one more feather in their cap! It also marks the fourth time that the automaker has received this accolade. The praise just keeps rolling in, and there’s clear reasons why!

Here’s more….

What they said!

“The Honda Passport offers ample passenger and cargo space for adventures, along with a host of family-friendly interior features, such as standard tri-zone automatic climate control that will keep everyone comfortable along the way,” John Vincent, senior editor/vehicle testing for U.S. News & World Report, said.

In making their selection, the media outlet examined a total of 90 new cars, SUVs and minivans from the 2024 model year. They combined with that examination such key components as professional automotive reviews, safety and reliability ratings, seating and cargo volume, and the availability of family friendly features.

Other factors that played into the Passports’ selection include the availability of tech features such as in-car wireless internet, teen driver controls, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert and hands-free cargo doors. The vehicle achieving the highest composite score in each category is then recognized as the Best Car for Families.

And in keeping families closely in mind, what serves them most in the area of safety, technology, comfort and affordability is considered. Among key safety features that played into the Passport’s designation, as well as every Best Car for Families award winner, includes forward automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist. All winners, with the exception of the Passport, also boasted reverse automatic emergency braking and a rear-seat alert is also in all but the Toyota Highlander Hybrid and Chrysler Pacifica.

Teens within the family are also highly considered in this criteria, with every winner featuring some form of teen driver control, ideal for families with new drivers. These systems not only help drivers develop good habits behind the wheel, but allow parents to keep track of their teen’s driving and in some cases regulate the speed and audio volume.

Cars selected in the family car market also have clear advancements when it comes to connectivity and comfort. Such features as in-car Wi-Fi, rear-seat USB ports and even heated and ventilated rear seats are now available. All of the winners have the ever-popular Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for enhanced smartphone connectivity, and all but the Honda Tucson offer in-car Wi-Fi with every winner also featuring the convenience of more than one USB port in the second or third row.
